Author Ian Falconer first created his character, Olivia the Pig, so that he could write a book for his young niece, also named Olivia. Many books about Olivia the Pig have followed. Coincidentally, Falconer drew inspiration for the expressions and personality of his character from yet another girl, a young lady named Olivia Babcock.
